Dubbed iGroups, the app aims to solve the pitfalls of traditional social networks, like Facebook, that require users be a member before being able to participate.

Push-to-talk pioneer Motorola is continuing to merge two-way radio and telephony features onto its Wi-Fi networks in a way it says helps connect islands of wireless communications within the enterprise.
The company says its latest PTT and telephony software modules for its Wireless Services Manager (WSM) appliance help enterprises appropriately match devices to workers without the management chaos often associated with supporting many different mobile device types.

Allentown police have issued at least five verbal warnings to drivers caught using cell phones at the wheel today -- the first day of the city's ban on the practice.
Assistant Chief Joseph Hanna said the city is printing warning citations that should be available to officers by Monday.
Police will give warnings for 30 days, until April 18, after which drivers face fines of $150 to $300.

A scheme to make wireless internet access available in Barnoldswick has been given the go-ahead.
Barnoldswick Town Council and the West Craven Area Committee have committed £8,000 each to establish a web portal and develop a wi-fi network.
The idea to turn Barnoldswick into a wi-fi town was first raised by Coun Martin Bell in March 2009.

More than 28 million mobile phones based on Wi-Fi network will be shipped in China in the entire 2010, predicted In-Stat, a unit of Reed Business Information, in a report on March 19.
Output of Wi-Fi mobile phones, both smuggled and authorized, will grow at a brisk pace in the wake of the rapid expansion of Wi-Fi network across the country, according to In-Stat, noting there will be around 285,000 Wi-Fi hot spots nationwide by the end of 2010.
